12 years son who has been suffering from abdominal pain for the last 3 yrs despite doing all the relevant tests and treatment by Kidney and Abdomen specialists. Abdomen is very complex part and consists of so many organs like stomach, intestines, liver, spleen, kidneys, pancreas, lymph nodes and many more. You have given very brief information about the history of the case. The details to be furnished are
1. Is the pain continuous or appears at certain fixed times, how severe it is and is he getting relief with the pain killers you are giving?
2. Relation to food and loss of appetite.
3. Any weight loss, fever, his activity when he is not in pain.
4. Vomitings, Digestion, passing regular motion and any problem with passage of urine?
5. Any other complaint beside the abdominal pain of 3 yrs duration.
6. General condition and most importantly any other psychological behaviour etc, etc
One thing I would like to suggest you is firstly the boy should be taken for consultation to a good pediatrician/General M.D physician for total check up and only if he feels that the child requires super specialist's treatment he will refer, but you should not go to super specialists directly on your own or on some neighbors' advise. Why because a Kidney super specialist looks after only his specialty and he will not bother to examine in full, of other systems. So is the case of other super specialists too. They confine only to their systems of specialty.
As pediatrician for little over 40 yrs experience I came across some cases like this. After taking full relevant history, examining the patient completely, getting all the necessary investigations and if necessary taking concerned super specialist's opinion, we come to a diagnosis or near diagnosis and treat in every possible way. In case the patient does not respond, after ruling out any physical ailment then we refer to a psychiatrist to rule out any psychogenic cause and treat accordingly by counseling or with medicines, or with both whichever is called for. There are many psychological problems even in children, quite often unknown, like seeking love, a sense of insecurity, various phobias which may present this way which are described as psycho-somatic diseases in medical paragon. That means psychological problems which present as bodily ailments though there may not be anything physically. But I must emphasize that all necessary investigations and treatment should be done before excluding any bodily condition before labeling as psychological and accordingly dealt with.
Pl do as I advise without wasting your money and time any further. Take him locally to a good pediatrician/M.D (Gen Medicine) physician showing all the previous record of investigations and treatment done and follow their advice.
