Dictators of the world

Dictators of the world

Posted by Michele Boccamazzo on March 31, 2011

We are living in truly interesting times. Many countries, especially the ones in northern Africa, are going through a transition period. Many people choose to fight for freedom, but are we aware how many people today still live without it?
In fact all over the world there are still many counties based on some sort of dictatorship. So here’s a list of the most important dictators still in charge (according to Wikipedia):
  1. Muammar Gaddafi / Libya
  2. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo / Equatorial Guinea
  3. José Eduardo dos Santos / Angola
  4. Robert Mugabe / Zimbawe
  5. Paul Biya / Cameroon
  6. Omar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir / Sudan
  7. Idriss Déby / Chad
  8. Meles Zenawi / Ethiopia
  9. Yahya Jammeh / The Gambia
  10. François Bozizé / Central African Republic
  11. Raoul Castro / Cuba
  12. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei / Iran
  13. Bashar al-Assad / Syria
  14. Islom Karimov / Uzbekistan
  15. Ilham Aliyev / Azerbaijan
  16. Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow / Turkmenistan
  17. Than Shwe / Myanmar
  18. Kim Jong-Il / North Korea
  19. Frank Bainimarama / Fiji

Top 10 Most Searched for People in April 2011

Top 10 Most Searched for People in April 2011

Posted by James Malone on May 5, 2011 Some surprises yet again this month with some intriguing searches for people all around the world.
And the most searched for person this month is…

Number 1

A complete and total shock, Harry Potter, the character from the popular book and film series by J.K. Rowling is the most searched for person in America, and even Ron and Hermione look as surprised as I am… Ok, just kidding, it isn’t Harry Potter, it’s only Justin Bieber… again.

Number 2

Second place is a surprise for the third month in a row, with Nicole Crowther, the not-so famous aspiring actress and extra from the hit musical television show “Glee”, who was fired for leaking the shows big Prom Episode before it aired.

Number 3

Another shocker with Supriya Menon, the Mumbai based BBC news reporter who finally got the green light from the mother of famed Indian actor Prithviraj Sukumaran to marry her son. Congrats to Prithviraj and Supriya.

Number 4

Political figures from the embattled Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) take the next spot as Michel Gbagbo, the son of former Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo, was arrested as was his father, by forces loyal to elected President Alassane Ouattara, hopefully bringing an end to the fighting and the struggle for control of the country. And on a positive note, Laurent has recently urged his supporters to drop political quarrels for now and help the West African country revive its economy in peace.

Number 5

Skylar Diggins is the famed Notre Dame women’s basketball star who captured the hearts of many with her stellar play in the NCAA tournament and emotional reaction to their loss in the title game to a very strong Texas A&M club.

Number 6

Joanne Salley is probably regretting those pictures a fellow art teacher took of her topless, as the former Miss Northern Ireland, art teacher and part-time TV news reporter, is probably not enjoying her students sharing topless photos of her in class. Guess we know what they are really studying in her classes now don’t we.

Number 7

Next we have some model mayhem with Italy’s Marika Fruscio, who despite her striking looks as a model, gained fame from a “wardrobe malfunction”, when the microphone pulled her dress open to let her nipple slip out while on TV. She was on the Italian soccer show Diretta Stadio, when the mic attached to her dress gave her the trouble, leading to her foray into nude modeling by accident while on live TV. Does this remind anyone of Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl XXXVIII Halftime Show issue when Justin Timberlake accidentally bumped her outfit to expose her boob on the live Superbowl broadcast? This is funny, and I will bet money the sound crew for the show made sure this happened.

Number 8

Next we have another political figure in not one of their best moments as Marilyn Davenport, the Republican Tea Party member from Orange County California, is under fire and being asked to resign from her office after emailing fellow party members a photo of Barack Obama with the head of a chimpanzee and his parents as apes. She claims she is not racist and this is not a racist statement or joke, but even if it isn’t this is in very poor taste. Smart move considering how open and transparent the Internet and email are today, and brilliant timing as the parties are all just starting to gear up for next years elections.

Number 9

Our favorite palm reader is back, as Pawan Sinha the world famous astrologer has made our list again. We love this guy and guess he made the list again as people must be trying to see what they should do for their upcoming summer vacations.

Number 10

Finally, rounding out the list this month is the popular new wife of a man who is now formerly one of the most eligible bachelors since Don Juan. Kate Middleton, now Princess Kate aka Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, just married the well-loved Prince William. Prince William is the son of Prince Charles and the beloved Lady Diana. Congratulations Kate and William, and may your children not have his dad’s ears.
It was a very interesting month of people searches with actresses in trouble, models with embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions on live TV, unpopular politicians starting off the election year with tasteless and racist jokes, NCAA women’s basketball stars, and the royal newlyweds. Maybe next month we can go back to more wild Charlie Sheen antics or maybe Harry Potter will make it for real next month? I wish for Harry Potter or just about anyone as I will take anybody else over another month of Justin Bieber.
Who will be the most searched for people in May? Come back next month to find out
