எனப்படும்.இதில் விஷ்ணு, லக்ஷ்மி, காளி,
மன்மதன் இவர்கள் அடக்கம்.இம்மந்திரம் நல்ல
செல்வம்,செல்வாக்கு,கௌரவம்,வசீக
ரசக்தி,உடல்,மன பலம் இவற்றை தரும்.

சௌஹூம் - இப்பீஜத்தில் சிவன்,பார்வதி,ம
ுருகன் இவர்கள் அடக்கம்.சௌம் என்ற பீஜத்தில்
இருந்தே சௌபாக்கியம் என்ற வார்த்தை
தோன்றியதாக வேதம் கூறுகிறது.இப்பீஜம்
சௌபாக்கியம் நிறைந்த வளவாழ்வினைத்தரும்.

தமிழ் மன்னன் எல்லாளன் பற்றிய வீர வரலாறு.

 எல்லாளன் கி.மு 145 இல் இருந்து கி.மு 101 வரை அனுராதபுரத்தைத் தலைநகராகக் கொண்டு இலங்கையை ஆட்சி செய்த தமிழ் மன்னன். இந்தத் தகவலைச் சிங்கள வரலாற்று ஆவணமான மகாவம்சம் பதிவுசெய்துள்ளது. இவனது ஆட்சிக்காலம் நீதியானதாகவும், சிறப்பானதாகவும் அமைந்ததாகப் பொதுவாக சிங்களச் சார்பான ஆவணமாக பார்க்கப்படும் மாகவம்சம் குறிப்பிடுகின்றது.

இலங்கைக்கு இந்தியப் பேரரசர் அசோகர் அனுப்பிய புத்த மதக் குழுவினர், அனுராதபுரத்தில் திசையன் என்ற தமிழ் மன்னனை சந்தித்தது பற்றி, பாலி மொழி வரலாற்று நூலில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.திசையன் இறந்த பிறகு, சேனன், குத்தன் என்ற இரு தமிழ் மன்னர்கள் 22 ஆண்டுகள் அனுராதபுரத்தில் நல்லாட்சி நடத்தினர்.இவர்களுக்குப் பிறகு ஆட்சிக்கு வந்தவர் எல்லாளன்.சிங்களர்களைப் புகழ்வதற்காகவே எழுதப்பட்ட “மகாவம்சம்” நூலில், எல்லாளனின் வீரம் பற்றி உயர்வாகவே கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவனுடைய குணநலன்கள், மனுநீதிச் சோழனின் இயல்பை ஒட்டி சித்தரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

தமிழ் மன்னன் எல்லாளன் பற்றி மகாவம்சம் கூறுவதாவது

எல்லாளன், இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு 235 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னதாகப் பிறந்தவன். அவன் அனுராதபுரத்தைத் தலைநகரமாகக் கொண்டு, 44 ஆண்டுகள் ஆட்சி நடத்தினான். அவன் சோழ வம்சத்தை சேர்ந்தவன். நீதி தவறாதவன்.அவன் தன் படுக்கை அறையில் ஒரு மணியை தொங்கவிட்டிருந்தான். அது, அரண்மனைக்கு வெளியே தொங்கவிடப்பட்டிருந்த ஒரு கயிற்றுடன் இணைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்தது. தங்களுடைய குறைகளை மன்னருக்குத் தெரிவிக்க, யார் வேண்டுமானாலும், எப்போது வேண்டுமானாலும் மணியை அடிக்கலாம்.

ஒருமுறை, ஒரு பெண் அந்த மணியை அடித்தாள். எல்லாளன் அந்தப் பெண்ணை அழைத்து, “உன் குறை என்ன?” என்று கேட்டான்.”உன் மகன் ரதத்தில் செல்லும்போது, என் கன்றுக்குட்டி மீது ரதத்தை ஏற்றிக் கொன்றுவிட்டான்” என்று கூறினாள்.அதைக்கேட்ட எல்லாளன், தன் மகனையும் ரதத்தை ஏற்றி கொன்றுவிடுமாறு கட்டளையிட்டான். அக்கட்டளைப்படி இளவரசன் கொல்லப்பட்டான். (மனுநீதி சோழன் வரலாற்றிலும் இதே போன்ற சம்பவம் வருகிறது)

ஒருமுறை எல்லாளன் ரதத்தில் செல்லும்போது, ரதம் மோதி புத்தர் கோவில் சேதம் அடைந்தது. ரதத்தில் இருந்து கீழே இறங்கிய எல்லாளன், கோவில் இடிந்ததற்காக மிகவும் வருந்தினான்.உடனே மந்திரிகளை அழைத்து, “புத்தர் கோவிலை சேதப்படுத்திய நான் படுபாவி; பெரிய குற்றவாளி. என்னைக் கொன்றுவிடுங்கள்’ என்றான்.அதற்கு மந்திரிகள் மறுத்துவிட்டனர். “நீங்கள் உங்களுக்கே மரண தண்டனை விதித்துக் கொள்வதை, புத்த பகவானே ஏற்கமாட்டார்” என்று கூறினர். “நீங்கள் உங்கள் உயிரைப் போக்கிக் கொள்வதற்கு பதிலாக, கோவிலை புதிதாகக் கட்டிக் கொடுத்து விடலாம்” என்று தெரிவித்தார்கள்.மந்திரிகளின் இந்த யோசனையை ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட எல்லாளன், புத்தர் கோவிலை முன்பைவிட அழகாகக் கட்டிக் கொடுத்தான்.

துட்ட காமினி (துட்ட கைமுனு)

இந்தக் காலக்கட்டத்தில் தென் இலங்கையை கவந்திசா என்ற சிங்கள மன்னன் ஆண்டு வந்தான். அவனுடைய மகன் பெயர் துட்டகாமினி. (இவனுடைய இயற்பெயர் கெமுனு என்றும், துஷ்டத்தனம் செய்து வந்ததால், துட்ட காமினி என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டான் என்றும் மகாவம்சம் கூறுகிறது.)ராஜ்ஜியத்தை விரிவுபடுத்த விரும்பிய துட்டகாமினி, பல சிற்றரசர்களை தோற்கடித்து விட்டு, வடக்கு நோக்கி முன்னேறினான். தமிழ் மன்னன் எல்லாளனை முறியடித்து, அனுராதபுரத்தை கைப்பற்ற வேண்டும் என்பது அவன் எண்ணம்.

தன் விருப்பத்தை தன் தந்தைக்குத் தெரிவித்தான். அதை மன்னர் ஏற்கவில்லை. “எல்லாளனிடம் ஒரு லட்சம் போர் வீரர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள். மேலும் அவர் நல்லவர். மக்களின் ஆதரவைப் பெற்றவர். அவர் மீது படையெடுக்க வேண்டாம்” என்று தகவல் அனுப்பினார். இதனால் சீற்றம் அடைந்த துட்ட காமினி, பெண்கள் அணியும் வளையல்களையும், சேலைகளையும் தந்தைக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்து, தந்தையை அவமானப்படுத்தினான்.

The first case of sexually transmitted Ebola

Genetic tests have confirmed that a Liberian woman contracted Ebola in March after having sex with a survivor of the disease.

Even though it was known that Ebola could survive in semen for weeks after a patient's symptoms had cleared up, this is the first time it's been confirmed that the disease can be transmitted sexually - and it also show that the virus can persist in bodily fluids a lot longer than we ever suspected.

The couple in question had unprotected sex six months after the man was first infected with Ebola, and 155 days after a blood test declared that he was clear of the virus - well past the 90 days that the virus was previously assumed to survive in bodily fluids, and that survivors are currently told to abstain from sex.

But analysis has shown that not only were the genomes of the man's and woman's virus virtually genetically identical, they were also different from all other Western African Ebola viruses that had been sequenced.

The researchers also ruled out that contact with other infected people could have transmitted the virus to the woman - in fact, she caught the disease 30 days after Liberia had been declared Ebola-free.

The results are published in the New England Journal of Medicine, alongside apreliminary report that suggests Ebola's genetic material can persist in semen an incredible nine months after infection.

Combined, the two papers show that we still have a lot to learn about how Ebola spreads, and just how long it takes to declare someone clear of the virus.

But the good news is that even though we now know sexual transmission is possible, the epidemiological evidence so far suggests that it can't be very common. There are more than 17,000 people who have survived the West African Ebola outbreak, and yet fewer than 20 suspected incidences of sexually transmitted infection have been reported.

"If sexual transmission from survivors were an important means of disease propagation, we would have seen a number of cases by now," wrote Armand Sprecher from Doctors Without Borders in Brussels, who wasn't involved in the research, in an opinion piece accompanying the research.

He also urges people not to use this research as further reason to stigmatise survivors of the virus. 

"Let us not forget that survivors have already endured a painful severe illness, and many emerge from it to find that friends and family members have died,"he writes. "If they are then treated as pariahs and threats, we add a terrible unkindness on top of their suffering. They should be treated with all the compassion we can muster."

Still, it's a significant breakthrough in our understanding of this persistent and deadly virus, and with further research it will help scientists develop safer guidelines and better protection in communities affected by the disease.

"It’s a really exciting article ... Ebola is a really complex and fascinating virus and we keep discovering new things about it every day," Jeremy Farrar, Director of the Wellcome Trust, who didn't work on the study, said in a statement. "The take home message from this article it’s not over when we think it’s over."

Typhoid Fever ::

Typhoid Fever or Enteric Fever is an acute, life-threatening febrile illness charaterized by a typical continuous fever for 3 to 4 weeks, relative bradycardia with involvement of lymphoid tissue and considerable constituinal symptoms. It is mainly caused by S. typhi or S. Paratyphi.

Typhoid fever occurs in all parts of the world where water supplies and sanitation are sub-standard. The disease is now uncommon in the developed countries where most of the cases that occur are either acquired abroad or imported by immigrants. In developing areas of Asia, Africa, Latin America. however, the disease continues to be a public health problem.

Incubation Period
Usually 10-14 days. But it may be as short as 3 days cr :.
long as three weeks depending upon the dose of the bac,. ,
ingested.

Mode of Transmission
1. It is transmitted via the faecal-oral route OR urine -oral routes.
2. Transmission through sexual contact, especially among men who have sex with men, has rarely been documented.

Clinical Features
1. First week :
- Gradual onset high grade fever (Stepladder pattern)
- Abdominal pain
- Constipation
- Diarrhoea, vomiting
- Relative bradycardia
- Generalized aches and pains
- Cough (Non-productive).

How Is Typhoid Fever Treated?

Typhoid fever is treated with antibiotics which kill the Salmonellabacteria. Prior to the use of antibiotics, the fatality rate was 20%. Death occurred from overwhelming infection, pneumonia, intestinal bleeding, or intestinal perforation. With antibiotics and supportive care, mortality has been reduced to 1%-2%. With appropriate antibiotic therapy, there is usually improvement within one to two days and recovery within seven to 10 days.

Several antibiotics are effective for the treatment of typhoid fever. Chloramphenicol was the original drug of choice for many years. Because of rare serious side effects, chloramphenicol has been replaced by other effective antibiotics. The choice of antibiotics is guided by identifying the geographic region where the infection was contracted (certain strains from South America show a significant resistance to some antibiotics.) If relapses occur, patients are retreated with antibiotics.

Those who become chronically ill (about 3%-5% of those infected), can be treated with prolonged antibiotics. Often, removal of the gallbladder, the site of chronic infection, will provide a cure.

Ring might have started the whole J-Horror fad but Pulse is where it’s at. Genuinely creepy, unnerving and just opaque enough to leave you constantly intrigued, this is what an art house director’s most accessible horror effort looks like.

A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)

Remade in the U.S. as The Uninvited in 2009, as per usual, the original is the one to stick to. A wicked stepmother, an eerie kid under the sink and a bloody sack which contents are twitching all make this a genuinely unsettling experience and twisted fairy tale.

Shutter (2004)

Japan might have taken all the credit for the Asian horror wave which swept the globe around the millennium but this Thai shocker ranks among the very best in the genre. Who knew the ghosts of the dead could be sitting right there on your shoulders?

Inside (2007)

One of two entries of the New French Extremity on this list, Inside deals with a woman whose partner has recently died but who still carrying his child. If that wasn’t bad enough, someone is stalking her and is hell bent on getting her baby. Before it’s born the regular way that is. Go French Extremity.

The Signal (2007)

Three different directors direct the three different acts of the one story, resulting in one hardcore opening, one darkly funny second act and one utterly weird finale. If you want to see something different, The Signal will do the trick.

Splinter (2008)

A parasite transforms its hosts into some serious nasty creatures. Whilst the limited budget does show at times, the enthusiasm of the filmmakers jumps off the screen and makes Splinter a horror flick which deserves a lot more exposure and appreciation. It’s fresh.

Pontypool (2008)

Maybe not for everyone, Pontypool is one hell of a different take on the zombie genre. Moody and funny, it’s certainly not the goriest entry on this list but it might be the most original one. For those who like their horror more cerebral.

Let The Right One In (2008)

Whilst the American 2010 remake Let Me In certainly did a decent job, the Swedish original takes home the cake. As melancholic as bizarre, this is a very fresh take on the vampire film and a beautifully made film. A must for all serious lovers of the genre.

The Broken (2008)

Under seen and under appreciated, The Broken is a stylish British doppelgänger mystery which presents a story line which is as fractured as its main characters. Cold, unsettling and with a nightmare logic, this movie is ripe for re-evaluation.

Lake Mungo (2008)

A faux documentary done right, Lake Mungo is partly a ghost story, partly an examination of grief and partly a comment on the medium of film itself. Never going for big scares, this Australian chiller maintains its sense of mystery and dread throughout whilst simultaneously exploring some serious themes often lacking in these types of films.

Martyrs (2008)

Relentless, unforgiving, utterly disturbing and definitely not for the faint of heart, Martyrs is the second New French Extremity entry on this list and it certainly fits the bill. Those who can handle the truly extreme and confronting will be in for a treat although others might want to give this one a miss as it doesn’t get more intense than this. A true modern classic.

Triangle (2009)

A true mind-bender, Triangle is a psychological horror thriller which keeps you guessing till the end and also delivers in its satisfying finale. A Twilight Zone episode successfully drawn out to feature length, here’s another little gem more people need to see.

The Loved Ones (2009)

Wonderfully twisted and subverting some genre tropes, The Loved Ones is a sick little Australian film that goes for the jugular and never lets go. Not since Carrie has a prom been so messed up.

The Crazies (2010)

A remake of a lesser known film by horror maestro George A. Romero, The Crazies doesn’t waste any time getting into its story of an outbreak of zombie-like creatures and has more memorable scenes than a few of your average zombie shockers combined. Fast paced and entertaining, this one is highly accessible and the definition of a successful update.

Kill List (2011)

A wildly original mix between British kitchen sink drama, a small time crime movie and pagan horror, Kill List doesn’t show its true nature until the very end but for those who stick with it, it’s a ride well worth taking. This is what would happen if Mike Leigh directed The Wicker Man.

Maniac (2012)

A remake of the infamous 1980 slasher, shot entirely from the killer’s point of view and thereby making the viewer complicit in the murderer’s horrendous deeds, Maniac is a stylish, nasty and distressing little movie starring Elijah Wood, who clearly set out to shed his hobbit image. Job well done.

We Are What We Are (2013)

The rare remake that actually improves upon its original, We Are What We Are is a very slow burn with a very big pay-off. This is American Gothic at its best and it has cannibalism to boot. What’s not to like?

Starry Eyes (2014)

Best described as the twisted little love child of David Cronenberg and David Lynch, Starry Eyes explores what we are willing to do for fame and how it transforms us…literally. Dark and disturbing, this one keeps building tension until it explodes in a gory finale.

Spring (2014)

Highly original, this mix between love story and Lovecraftian nightmare blends genres effortlessly and comes out as something truly innovative. Beautifully shot, well acted and with some impressive effects, Spring is a remarkable low-budget treat.

It Follows (2014)

Proving that blood and guts aren’t necessary to bring on the chills, It Follows takes an original concept and runs with it. Maintaining a sense of dread throughout its entire run time, this movie looks stunning and feels like something John Carpenter would have done in his prime. And that tall guy is seriously creepy.
