HAVE YOU SEEN THE THE CARVING OF THE ROMAN SURGICAL TOOLS YET?

.
Can you imagine being operated on by a Roman surgeon with these tools? The carving of these tools is located on the blocking stone of a burial chamber in the St Paul's Catacombs. Each individual tool served a particular purpose and were interpreted by Cassar Pullicino as follows:
1 and 9 - Possibly a whetstone used for sharpening knives or an ointment slab
2 and 10 - Surgical shears/scissors
3 - Possibly a box containing ointments
4 - Vaginal speculum
5 and 13 - surgical tongs, forceps or pincers
6 - Chisel/knife
7 - Bleeding bowl
8 and 14 - Bleeding cup - used to suck blood out by the use of fire
11 - Portable ointment box or unguentarium
12 - Portable probe case
