kids' performance

Most children nowadays spend more time engaged in TV, movies and video games than any other activity besides sleep. According to a new study, How parents monitor their children's television and video game habits is tied to the kids' performance in school, their relationships with peers and their weight.
It may be a small effect on the child's daily or weekly functioning. Still, tiny changes accumulate over time, eventually leading to measurable changes in academics, relationship patterns and physical patterns.
I have observed that when parents restrict how much screen time kids watch, restrict what they watch and talk about the shows they watch, it is linked to more sleep, better school performance and less aggression among kids. Better sleep was also tied to lower body mass index scores among children. (Body mass index, or BMI, is a measure of weight about height.)
