திருப்பூர் குமரன் (Tiruppur Kumaran)

திருப்பூர் குமரன் (அக்டோபர் 4, 1904 - ஜனவரி 11, 1932) இந்திய விடுதலைப் போராட்ட தியாகி ஆவார். இவர் ஈரோடு மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள் சென்னிமலையில் பிறந்தார். 1932 ஆம் ஆண்டு சட்ட மறுப்பு இயக்கம் மீண்டும் தொடங்கிய போது தமிழகம் முழுவதும் அறப்போராட்டம் பரவிய நேரத்தில் திருப்பூரில் தேசபந்து இளைஞர் மன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் அச்சமயம் ஏற்பாடு செய்த மறியல் போராட்டத்தில் தீவிரமாகப் பங்குகொண்டு, 1932 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 11 ஆம் தேதியன்று கையில் தேசியக் கொடியினை ஏந்தி, தொண்டர் படைக்குத் தலைமை ஏற்று, அணிவகுத்துச் சென்றபோது காவலர்களால் தாக்கப்பட்டு தடியடிபட்டு மண்டை பிளந்து, கையில் இந்திய தேசியக் கொடியை ஏந்தியபடி மயங்கி விழுந்து, பின்னர் மருத்துவமனையில் உயிர் துறந்தவர் திருப்பூர் குமரன் . இதனால், கொடிகாத்த குமரன் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்.

நினைவகம்

தமிழ்நாடு அரசு திருப்பூர் குமரன் தியாகத்தைப் போற்றும் வகையில் திருப்பூரில் திருப்பூர் குமரன் நினைவகம் ஒன்றை அமைத்துள்ளது. இங்கு தற்காலிக நூல் நிலையம் உள்ளது. படிப்பகம் ஒன்று செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றது. மேலும் இந்தியச் சுதந்திரப் போராட்ட வீரர்களின் படங்கள் வரைந்து பொதுமக்கள் பார்வைக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

தபால் தலை

இவரது நூறாவது பிறந்த நாளைச் சிறப்பிக்கும் வகையில், அக்டோபர் 2004 இல் சிறப்பு நினைவுத் தபால் தலை இந்திய அரசால் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

Tiruppur Kumaran (1904–1932), was an Indian revolutionary who participated in the Indian independence movement. Kumaran was born in Chennimalai, a small town in the Erode District in Tamil Nadu region of south India. He died from injuries sustained from a police assault during a protest march against the British colonial government on January 11, 1932. At the time of his death, he was holding the flag of the Indian Nationalists, which had been banned by the British.

Kumaran founded Desa Bandhu Youth Association. The government has erected his statue in a park by the railway station in Tirupur. Kumaran is revered as a martyr in Tamil Nadu and is known by the epithet Kodi Kaththa Kumaran (Kumaran who saved the Flag) —

Kumaran also known as Tiruppur Kumaran (4 October 1904 – 1 November 1932) was an Indian revolutionary who participated in the Indian independence movement.

Kumaran was born in Chennimalai in Madras Presidency, British India (current Erode district in Tamil Nadu). He founded Desa Bandhu Youth Association and led protests against the British. He died from injuries sustained from a police assault on the banks of Noyyal River in Tiruppur during a protest march against the British government on 11 January 1932. At the time of his death, he was holding the flag of the Indian Nationalists, which had been banned by the British giving rise to the epithet Kodi Kaththa Kumaran (Kumaran who held the flag)

A commemorative stamp was issued by India post in October 2004 on his 100th birth anniversary. A statue has been erected in Tirupur in his honor which is often used as a focal point for public demonstrations
