Symptoms of weak heart

A weak heart can cause various symptoms, such as:

  • Shortness of breath with activity, at rest, or when lying flat
  • Swelling of the legs, feet, ankles, belly or other areas
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, or near fainting
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Rapid, pounding, or fluttering heartbeat
  • Anxiety or fatigue
  • Coughing while lying down or with mucus
  • Reduced ability to exercise

These symptoms may indicate a serious condition and require medical attention. However, some are not specific to a weak heart and may result from other causes. You should see a doctor immediately if you have any of these symptoms.
