Fish Puttu


Fish Puttu
(Serves 4)


Indian fish puttu recipe can be made from any fish fillet. We make it out of shark. Shark has a unique taste for puttu and it’s easy to make. Just buy the fillet and half your work is done. Indian fish puttu is a great side dish for white rice with sambar, rasam, yogurt and fish curries. Indian fish puttu recipe is one of our favorites, we make it at least twice a month.
Ingredients
Fish(shark) fillet     2 lbs
Onions     1
Green chillies     4 medium size
Cilantro     ¼ bunch
Ginger     2 inches
Oil     1/2 cup
Turmeric powder     1/2 tsp
Salt     1 tbsp
Method
1     Wash the fillet and cut it into 2 or 3 large pieces
2     Cook them in a large cooking pot with turmeric, salt and ½ cup water for 10 minutes
3     Do not let it over cook. Remove from stove and drain the water.
4     Cut the onions, green chillies, ginger, garlic and cilantro into small fine pieces
5     Take another frying pan and pour oil. Once the oil is heated, add the cut ingredients and let it fry well
6     In the meantime, mash the cooked and drained fillet with a fork.It should look like scrambled eggs and not like mashed potatoes
7     Add this to the fried ingredients in the pan and mix everything together while frying on low heat
8     Serve hot
